Bruce R. Moyer, 91, of Centre Hall died January 21, 2016 at Juniper Village.

Born April 1, 1924 in Centre Hall he was the son of the late Archie A. and Amy Heckman Moyer.

On May 1, 1954 he married Virginia A. Barnes of Barnsville, OH, who survives in Centre Hall.

Bruce is survived by a son, Randall and his wife Sharon of Madisonburg, PA; a granddaughter, Jillian Moyer and a grandson, Travis Moyer.

He was preceded in death by two daughters Shelley on December 21, 1976 and Linda on October 13, 2010, and two brothers, Franklin and Robert.

He was a graduate of Centre Hall-Potter High School. He attended Union University, Jackson, TN and Central Technical School, Kansas City, MO. He also completed various courses at Penn State University. He was a life member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church of Centre Hall, where he served as a councilman and financial secretary. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army Air Corps as a 1st LT. and a fighter pilot. He was a charter member of American Legion Post 779 in Centre Hall and a member of the American Association of Retired People. He was active with the Centre Hall-Potter Township Food Bank for many years. He was an avid model airplane hobbiest, having built an extensive collection of model airplanes. He also enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, hunting and traveling. He was the Curator of the Chemistry Department Laboratories, The Eberly College of Science at Penn State University, retiring in 1984 after 25 years of service.

At Bruce’s request there will be no public visitation and the funeral will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery. Centre Hall.
