Charles W. “Chuck” Thompson, 62, of State College, passed away at the Mount Nittany Medical Center on Tuesday, August 21, 2018.
He was born January 12, 1956 in Homestead, PA, a son of the late John Patrick and Nellie Bly Thompson.
Chuck graduated from Steel Valley High School in Munhall, PA before working at US Steel in Homestead, PA until its closure. He then relocated to St. Petersburg, FL where he was employed by Bengal Trucking. In 2013 he moved back to PA to be close to his sisters due to health reasons.
Chuck loved doing crossword puzzles and was an avid sports fan, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins. He was a member of the American Legion Post 245 in Pine Hall, PA.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jean Lay (Don) of Clearwater, FL.
He is survived by a brother, Arnold (Shirley) of Munhall, PA; sisters, Charlene Myers (Arch) of Philipsburg and Jonell Benzio-Condo (Jerry) of PA Furnace plus many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral & Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
