David P. Shaffer Sr., 56, of Aaronsburg, passed away Monday, July 12, 2010, at his home where he lived with his fiance and love of his life Carollee Scholl.
Born on Dec. 7, 1953, in Bellefonte, he was the son of late Geraldine R. Smeltzer Shaffer and Elmer P. Shaffer, Jr. who survives in Zion. He was a 1971 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School and also the Centre County Vo-Tech School. David was Owner and Operator of David P. Shaffer Electric, along with his son David Jr. He attended the Trinity United Methodist Church of Woodward.
David is survived by one son, David P. Shaffer Jr. and his wife Julie, of Woodward; by his step-children, Nathan Sanders and his wife Christine, and Amy Throne, of Mifflinburg; by one sister, Lonna Watson and her husband John, of Yarnell; by one grandson, Alex Shaffer, of Woodward; and step-grandchildren, Alex and Justin Catherman. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by one son, Jesse Paul Shaffer.
He was an avid bass fisherman who particularly enjoyed fishing on the St. Lawrence River. He was a member of Woodward P.O.S. of A.
There will be a public visitation held on Friday, July 16, 2010, from 6-9 p.m. at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Cass Harbach officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Union Cemetery, Walker Township.
