Dean L. Kistner, 67, of Jersey Shore, passed away early Wednesday morning, Jan. 20, 2010, at The Gatehouse at Divine Providence Hospital. He was born in Howard on May 26, 1942, a son of Joseph William and Wilma Stitzer Kistner.
He graduated from Bald Eagle Area High School and received his machinist's degree from the former Williamsport Technical Institute. He was employed by Textron of Williamsport and was a member of the National Guard. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Jersey Shore and the Sportsman's Club of Montoursville. He was also a member of the U.A.W. Local #787 and enjoyed woodworking and his train collection.
He was married May 6, 1966, to the former Christine DeLaney, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Dean L. Kistner, Jr., of South Williamsport and a daughter, Danine Wool (Stephen), of Jersey Shore; one sister, Janice (Gary) Heyd, of Salladasburg; one brother, Gerald (Sue) Kistner, of Bellefonte; five grandchildren, Mikaylah, Nikotah, Preston "Tucker", Hannah Grace, and Payton "Gussie". He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Edward Kistner.
Dean's "Life Celebration" will begin with a visitation from 4-6 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 229 S. Broad St., Jersey Shore, with services to follow at 6 p.m. with his pastor, Rev. Kerry Aucker officiating. Interment will be at his family's convenience.
