Dolores A. “Lorie” Young, 72, of State College, died Sunday, February 16, 2014 at her residence.
Born January 11, 1942, in Boyertown, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Betty J. Schonley Astheimer.
On March 23, 1963, she married David F. Young Jr. who survives at home. Lorie is also survived by three children, Ann Elizabeth Young of Philipsburg, Krista Y. Wilmot and her husband, John, of Washington, DC. and David F. Young III and his wife, Jennifer Zentis, of State College; one half-brother, Donald David Astheimer; four grandchildren, David Young IV, Connor Young, Mason Young and Abigail Wilmot.
Lorie was a 1959 graduate of Boyertown High School, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Penn State University in 1963. Lorie enjoyed time with her grandchildren and boxers and playing bridge. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Maryland, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at the beach in Ocean City, N.J.
Friends will be received at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. On Wednesday, February 19, 2014, from 7 until 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Koch Funeral Home on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Chris Thomas and Celebrant Jackie Hook officiating. Interment will be in the Spring Creek Cemetery.
