Dorcas Pauline Summers, 71, of Centre Hall, died unexpectedly at her residence Tuesday, October 13, 2015.

She was born June 16, 1944, a daughter of the late Charles and Ruth Heisey Fohringer.

On July 27, 1967, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, in Centre Hall, she married Nathan Summers who survives at home.

Mrs. Summers earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from what is now Lock Haven University. She was a member of the PSEA

She worked as an Elementary teacher; retiring from teaching second grade at Centre Hall Elementary School. Mrs. Summers was a dedicated and committed care giver to family and friends often at the sacrifice of personal plans and pleasures.

Growing up and into her earlier years she was an active member of Colyer Brethren In Christ Church, then in later years attended Bethel Church of the Nazarene, and in more recent years attended State College Alliance Church.

In the little spare time she had, Dorcas enjoyed traveling, cooking, working in her flower gardens, and loved to spend time with her dogs Chanel and Quincy.

Surviving in addition to her husband Nathan, are two daughters, Dawn Crutchfield (Fred) Harrisburg, and Heather Summers at home; one son Sean Summers (Jen) of State College, PA; one granddaughter Victoria of Harrisburg; two sisters, Anna Ruth Smoyer of Boalsburg, and Eunice Paraiso (Cesar) of Aiken, SC; and one brother Kenneth Fohringer (Deb) of Filmore.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Carl Fohringer, and a brother in law Charles “Chuck” Smoyer.

Friends will be received form 2:30 – 4:30 p. m. Sunday, October 18, 2015 at State College Alliance Church, 1221 West Whitehall Road, State College, Pa 16801. The funeral service will follow immediately at 4:30 pm at the church with the Pastor Seth Roush officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family at Zion Hill Cemetery, Church Hill Road Colyer.
