Dorothy I. Steiger, 81, of Spring Mills, formerly Huntsville, AL, arrived safely home with Jesus on May 26, 2014. Born on October 25, 1932 in Ashland, AL, Dorothy was a daughter of the late James T. and Willie Virgie Bone Mann. She was a graduate of Clay County High School and went on to attain a Bachelor Degree from the University of Alabama. On December 21, 1952, Dorothy married the love of her life, Paul “Biff” Steiger, who survives in Bellefonte.
Upon graduation from college, Dorothy was employed at the First Alabama Bank, retiring with 30 plus years of service. She and Paul moved to Spring Mills in 1996 where Dorothy was a member of the Sprucetown United Methodist Church. She was actively involved in the adult Sunday School class, Wednesday night bible study and cooking and serving at church suppers. Dorothy enjoyed being outdoors and working in her flower gardens.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by one son, Randall T. “Randy” Steiger (Patience) of Cheyenne, WY; two grandsons, Randall T. Steiger II also of Cheyenne and Jared P. Steiger (Stephanie) of Aurora, CO. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Karissa and Violet Steiger and one brother James L. Mann (Helen) of Charlestown, WV.
Family and friends will be received from 1-2 pm at the Sprucetown United Methodist Church, Upper Georges Valley Rd, Spring Mills, on Monday, June 2, 2014. The funeral will follow at 2 pm with Pastor Jeff Mugridge officiating. Dorothy will be laid to rest in Sprucetown United Methodist Cemetery.
