Obituary of Duane Austin Darr , 65

Duane A. Darr, 65, of Aaronsburg, departed from this life on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, in Summerville, S.C. Duane, the son of William Darr and Almeda Heisey Darr, was born in Dillsburg on Nov. 8, 1944.

Duane was a 1962 graduate of Northern High School in Dillsburg. On Jan. 20, 1968, Duane married Susan Witmer in Pleasant Gap. Mrs. Darr survives at their home in Aaronsburg. Duane was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE). He operated heavy equipment for 15 years. Duane was also a well known livestock hauler in the Penn's Valley area. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and talking with people.

In addition to his wife, Duane is survived by one son, Joshua W. Darr. of Leesburg, Va., and by one daughter, Tanya L. Darr, of Aaronsburg. Also surviving are two brothers and three sisters.

Family and friends may call at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 from 10 a.m. -12 p.m. Funeral services will follow immediately at 12 p.m., with Rev. Karen Valentine officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Aaronsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Duane's memory may be given to the American Heart Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.
