Edna L. Buzzell, 92, of Pleasant Gap, formerly of Bucks County, died on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Born Jan. 2, 1917, in Vicksburg, she was a daughter of the late William Leinbach and Clara Sanders Leinbach. On Dec. 26, 1947 she married E. Robert Buzzell, who survives at home. She was a graduate of Lock Haven State Teachers College with a Bachelors degree in Education. She was a teacher at Mifflinburg Schools and then at Council Rock School District in Bucks County.
Edna was a member of the Newtown Presbyterian Church and later the State College Presbyterian Church. She was a volunteer with various organizations through her church service. She also volunteered at Schlow Library in State College, and the Langhorne library. She was a life-long learner and attended many Elder Hostels. She was a seamstress, and enjoyed needlepoint, quilting, nature, birds and gardening. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and a lady of grace and kindness.
Along with her husband, she is survived by two children, Ann L. Wiles and her husband, Robert, of Canton, Mich., and Robert J. Buzzell and his wife, Ann, of DuBois; and two grandchildren, Greg Buzzell and Laura Buzzell. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Louise Martz and Ruth Robb, and two brothers, Marlyn Leinbach and Paul Leinbach.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until noon on Saturday, October 3, 2009, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Her memorial service will follow at noon at the funeral home with the Rev. Joel T. Blunk officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , 225 N.
