Edward J. "Ed" Shoemaker, 81, of Bellefonte, passed away Monday, Aug. 10, 2009 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Born on Jan. 15, 1928 in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Joseph Shoemaker and Mary Boldin Shoemaker. In 1989 he married Louise T. Barrett, who preceded him in death on Dec. 8, 1990. He worked in the Maintenance HVAC Department at the Penn State University. Ed was a graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte. Ed was a lifetime member of the Bellefonte Moose Lodge # 206.
He was a loyal loving member of the Pinge family; Catherine, Bobbi and Doug Barrnett, and family; Tammy and Blaine Ammerman, and family. He is also survived by one uncle, Ralph Boldin, and several cousins. Ed was very kind. He always had a good word and a caring heart. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with his cat.
There will be a public visitation held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a wake service at 7:45 p.m. at the Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte with Father Valentine J. Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Bellefonte. Memorial contributions may be made to Centre County PAWS, 1401 Trout Road, State College, PA 16801.
