Edward R. Fenton, 85, of Philipsburg, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
He was born May 10, 1925, a son of the late Harry and Caroline (Wilson) Fenton. He was a 1943 graduate of Philipsburg High School. On Dec. 28, 1948, in Philipsburg he married the former Jane Horne, who preceded him in death, Jan. 29, 2009. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, of Philipsburg. He served in the SeaBees in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked as a welder for Meyer Brothers, Philipsburg and Hoffman Coal Company, Karthaus, until his retirement.
He is survived by two sons, Edward M. Fenton and his wife, Ruth, of State College and Matthew R. Fenton and his wife, Pat, of State College; and four grandchildren, Curtis J. Fenton, of Philadelphia, Michael R., Jessica R. and Adam R. Fenton, all of State College. He was the last of his generation. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; an infant daughter; three brothers, Earl, Joseph and Kenneth Fenton; and a sister, Evelyn Snyder.
