Esther Stoner Rudy Taylor, 96, of Centre Hall, died peacefully at the Wynwood House in Centre Hall, on Sunday, February 09, 2014, surrounded by family.

She was born August 21, 1917, at Tusseyville a daughter of the late William and Ida Confer Stoner.

On May 16, 1936, she married Clarence R. Rudy, who preceded her in death July 28, 1978. On January 2, 1982, she married Charles G. Taylor, who preceded her in death on June 27, 1996.

Mrs. Rudy Taylor was involved in many activities, with the most important being her family and church. She also enjoyed crafts, quilting, crocheting, ceramics and working with her flowers.

Esther was well known for her cooking skills, having owned and operated Rudy’s Restaurant in Centre Hall for many years. She also worked as a cook in Findley Dining Hall at the Penn State University, until her retirement.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Centre Hall and of the Centre Hall Senior Citizens.

Surviving Mrs. Rudy Taylor are five children, C. Guy Rudy and his wife Ruth C. of Centre Hall, Ruth Floray and her husband Ben of Spring Mills, Donald Rudy and his wife Dorothy of Spring Mills, Harold Rudy and his wife Jane of Rebersburg, and Barbara Wilkins and her husband Don of Centre Hall; fourteen grandchildren, Douglas Rudy (Cindye), Donita and Dianna Rudy, Kim Smith (Jim), Scott Floray (Ruth Ann), Brad Floray (Yulia), Lisa Holsinger, (Van), Shelley Carper (Mike), Peg Hosterman, Darrick Rudy (Bonnie), David Keller (Deneen), Chris Marshall (Curt), Erika Wilkins, and Leanne Stibbard (Jason); and twenty two great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Donna Rudy, and a sister Edna Horner.

Friends will be received from 6 – 8 pm Tuesday, February, 11, 2014, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service P. C., 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA, and from 10:00 a. m. to 11:00 a. m Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Grace United Methodist Church, 127 North Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall; The funeral will follow immediately at 11:00 a. m. at the church with the Reverend Judith Hulslander officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA.
