Eugene Nevin Breon, 89, passed away Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte.
Born May 24, 1920, in Benner Township, he was a son of the late Harry and Della Swartz Breon. On Sept. 7, 1952, he married Ida Sproul, who survives at home. He was a 1937 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. Eugene worked as a security officer at the PA Fish Commission in Pleasant Gap for 30 years. He enjoyed farming, fishing, football and his 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte for more than 50 years.
Along with his wife, he is survived by four children; Della Houser and husband James, of Etters, David Breon and wife Terri, of Benner Township, Barbara Gingrich and husband Charles, of Milesburg, and Harry Breon and wife Tawnya, of Continental Courts; two sisters, Isabel Witherite, of Spring Mills, and Pauline Breon, of Eagle Valley Personal Care Facility. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur Breon and Mahlon Breon; three sisters, Grace Tate, Geraldine Breon, and infant Mildred Breon.
A public visitation will be held Thursday Aug. 20, 2009, from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 512 Hughes St., Bellefonte and Friday August 21, 2009 from 10:00 till 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will be held Friday Aug. 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Duane Bardo officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Zion Union Cemetery in Walker Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church, 512 Hughes St., Bellefonte PA 16823, or to your favorite charity. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
