Eva Wahna, 85, of Smithmill, PA, died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center at State College.
She was born February 27, 1925 at Smithmill, a daughter of the late John and Mary Plishka Strongosky.
Eva was first married to Nelson Biddle; then on October 4, 1942 she married John Wahna who survives at home.
Mrs. Wahna was a homemaker who earlier in life had been employed at the Cigar Factory in Philipsburg. She enjoyed gardening, working with flowers, and puzzle books. She and her husband, a gifted carpenter, built their own home, from the ground up over an extended period of time, using their own available resources, in Smithmill next to Mrs. Wahna's homestead. She was a member of Janesville United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Patricia Biddle Byer and her husband Jeff of Mahaffey, and Karen Wahna Davidsen and her husband Garry, of State College, with whom Mrs. Wahna and her husband were residing at the time of her death; one son, Donald Biddle and his wife Veronica Simpson of Cabot; four grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Schueren and three brothers, Mike, Wasco (Chuck) and John Strongosky.
Friends will be received from 6 – 8 p. m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, and on Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p. m. at the funeral home. The funeral will follow immediately at 1:30 p. m. at the funeral home, with the Reverend Dennis Lee McCracken officiating. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College.
