Gerald Hartman, of State College passed away peacefully at Geisinger Hospital on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010.
Jerry was born in Nebraska to John and Doris Hartman. His sisters, Faye and Diane, preceded him in death. Jerry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan, daughter, Karen, son, Dan, daughter-in-law, Ashley and granddaughter, Jenna.
Jerry received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Iowa State University in 1959 and pursued graduate studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Captain in the Corps of Engineers. Before he retired, Jerry was president of Krautkramer in Lewistown. Before he and his family moved to State College, Jerry was president of Morse Chain in Ithaca, N.Y. For many years of his career, Jerry and his family lived in Australia and England. Jerry was a member of the board of the Centre County Community Foundation and the Pennsylvania Centre Stage and was an elder in the State College Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service will be held at the State College Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010.
