Geraldine L. Ishler, 88, of Axemann went home to be with her Lord, Friday, June 4, 2010, at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.
She was born December 6, 1921, in Lock Haven, a daughter of the late Grover and Ethel Mae Masden Seyler.
On March 22, 1946, she married Theodore W. Ishler, who preceded her in death on June 24, 1996.
Mrs. Ishler was a homemaker and worked in housekeeping at Centre Crest Nursing Center in Bellefonte until her retirement. A very caring and generous person, she served as a caregiver for one of her neighbors for many years, and was always ready to help anyone in need.
She was a member of what is now know as New Hope United Methodist Church in Axemann, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid Society, the Altar Guild and helped with the youth fellowship. She also cleaned the church for many years. Geraldine was a member the Golden Agers in Lock Haven and attended the Centre Hall Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Ishler enjoyed canning, and was known for her baking ability. She enjoyed attending church services, playing cards and bingo while living at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home.
Surviving her are five children, Dianne L. Kauffman of State College, Allen L. Ishler and his wife Rita of Chalfont, Terry L. Ishler and his wife Sharon of Zion, Donna A. Jones and her husband Jerry of Bellefonte, and Camela E. Burris and her husband Rodney of Cameron, NC; seven grandchildren, Brooke Lauck and her husband Isaac, Michael Ishler, Matt Jones, Mark Ishler, Christopher Burris, Tyler Rayno and her husband Bernie and Kyle Jones; three step-grandchildren, Marie Stechert, Jenna and Alyse Brewer; two great grandchildren, Jordan and Ava Lauck; three sisters, Marsha Weaver of Mill Hall, Shirley Decker of Lock Haven, and Betty Brooks of Beech Creek; and two brothers, Clair and Richard Seyler both of Mill Hall.
Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 a. m. Monday, June 7, 2010, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. The funeral will follow immediately at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Jeff Steppe officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, State College.
