Harold E. McClellan, 78, of rural Spring Mills, died Thursday, July 29, 2010 at his home.
He was born January 8, 1932, a son of the late Irvin and Elsie Mae Grove McClellan.
On December 18, 1954 he married Shirley L. Bogdan who survives at home.
In 1952 during the Korean War, Harold entered the U. S. Army serving as a Military Police Officer, and was honorably discharged in 1954.
Mr. McClellan worked for Farm Bureau, which later became Agway, in the animal feeds division and as a home delivery fuel truck driver for nearly thirty five years. Later he worked for Potter Township for several years.
An active and faithful member of Bethany United Methodist Church; Harold served as a Church Board Member, trustee, lay speaker, a lay delegate to the annual conference and as Sunday School Teacher for many years. He also served on the board of the Zion Hill Cemetery and was a member of the Nittany Antique Machinery Association. Contributing to his community, he assisted with the Centre Hall-Potter Township Food and Fuel Bank distributions.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Delma Kay McClellan of State College, two sons, Dwayne E. McClellan and his wife Angie of West Decatur, and Daren McClellan and his wife Tammy of rural Spring Mills; and three grandchildren, Rebekah, Emanuel, and Elisha McClellan all of rural Spring Mills; and a sister in law Ellen McClellan of rural Spring Mills.
His parents; one sister, Sara Musser, and two brothers Glenn (Mac) and Roy E. McClellan preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p. m. Sunday, August 1, 2010 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a. m. Monday, August 2, 2010 at Bethany United Methodist Church, Church Hill Road (near Colyer) with the Reverend F. Jeffrey Mugridge officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
