Harold “Bill” Jackson, Jr., age 77, of State College, PA greeted the smile of His Savior on Friday, Aug. 7, 2015.
He was born on Jan. 9, 1938 in Bellefonte to the parents Harold Jackson, Sr. and Leona Marcel Jackson.
Bill attended State College High School and went on to serve in the Rangers of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
His four children; Karen Wetstine and her husband Ray, William Jackson and his wife Bonnie, John Jackson and his wife Yong, and Cheryl Swealvy and her husband Michael, one brother; Rick L. Spicer, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren survive him.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by three sons and one brother, Leroy “Jack” Odie Spicer.
He worked in the maintenance dept. of the State College Area School District, retiring in 1992 where he was instrumental in helping to set up a program to help maintenance workers there. He went on to become a member of Nittany Baptist Church in Potters Mills where he and his fiancé, Patty Barger, the love of his life, attended.
Bill enjoyed reading his Bible, praying, attending church, hunting and going to dinner with friends.
A memorial service will be held at Mt Nittany Residences (where Bill had spent his latter years) on Weds., Aug. 19 at 11 a.m. and officiated by his Pastor, Jody Reese.
Contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or Nittany Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
