Hazel H. Davis, 96, of Venice, FL, formerly from Bellefonte, passed away Friday April 1, 2016, at Pinebrook Center, Venice, FL.
She was born on November 27, 1919 in Mill Hall, Clinton Co, PA.
She was a sales clerk for Turner's Department store in Bellefonte in the toy section, she also had worked at Jack Wilkinson's in Bellefonte for three years, then she had worked for Dank's Clothing store for 20 years, having retired in 1981. She was also a homemaker. Hazel was a 1937 graduate of Lock Haven High School. Hazel was secretary for Bellefonte Woman's Club, she was secretary for Special Projects, she was instrumental in forming the Bellefonte Band Parents Boosters, solicitating for new band uniforms in 1961, and was secretary-treasurer for Bellefonte Marching Band from 1956-1963. Hazel was also a member of the Bellefonte American Legion Post 33 Ladies Auxilary. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Venice, FL where she did attendance records for 15 years.
She was the daughter of the late Christian and Minnie Poorman Harman.
On May 16, 1938, she married Blair K. Davis who preceded her in death March 27, 1994.
She is survived by twp daughters, Nancy D. Baney of Venice FL and Judith M. (Allen) Garbrick of Clermont, FL; one sister, Mildred Huss of Williamsport; five grandchildren, Teri-Jo Scott, Tami Taylor, David Baney, George L. “Chip” Jodon and Barbara Garbrick Wolf; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Kline, and Dorothy Harman, three brothers, Christian Harman, Kenneth Harman and Stewart Harman.
Service will be held at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring St., Milesburg on Friday, April 8, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Sean Smith will be officiating. Family and Friends will be received from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M., Thursday, April 7, 2016, at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring St., Milesburg, PA. Burial will be Centre County Memorial Park, College Twp., Centre Co., PA.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bellefonte Area High School Band, 830 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823 or the Grace United Methodist Church, 400 Field Street, Venice, FL 34285.
A memorial service will be held in Venice, FL at a later date at the convenience of the family.
