Our loving father, Jack B. Burger, 85, of Bellefonte, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at his home.

Born Nov. 9, 1924, in Pontiac, Ill, he was a son of the late William and Laura Matilda Kiss Burger. On June 1, 1945 he married Julia Coslo, who preceded him in death on May 2, 1999. He was a 1942 graduate of Joliet Township High School in Joliet Ill., and a 1944 graduate of Joliet Junior College.

Jack was the chief chemist at Cerro Copper and Brass in Bellefonte, retiring in 1987 after 43 years of service. He served in the US Army during World War II. For his service he received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Bellefonte American Legion.

Jack is survived by three sons, Barry Burger (Sabine), Tom Burger and his wife, Deb, Chris Burger and his wife, Janell, all of Bellefonte; seven grandchildren also survive, Bryan and his wife, Elizabeth, Bradley and his wife, Abbey, Beau and his wife, Kelley, Megan, Kelly, Trey, Brianna; and one great granddaughter, Emma. He will be dearly missed by his children and grandchildren.

A public visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at Wetzler Funeral Service Inc., 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte, from 6-8 p.m. with a Wake service at 8 p.m. lead by Deacon Thomas Boldin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at 10 a.m., at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop St., Bellefonte, with Father Neil R. Dadey officiating. Burial will follow in St John Catholic Cemetery, Bellefonte with full military honors.
