Jan L. Maurer 76, of State College, PA, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Health South Rehabilitation Center in Pleasant Gap, PA. Born on February 19, 1939, in Meadville, PA, he is the son of the late Elvin E. Maurer and Ruth Foulk Maurer. On August 26, 1961, in Reading, PA, he married JoAnne Huyett Maurer, who survives at home.
He was a 1957 graduate of the Meadville High School and also went on to graduate from the Penn State University in 1963 after attaining his bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Jan was the owner of Maurer Construction.
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of State College.
Along with his wife, JoAnne, Jan is survived by two daughters, Linda O’Shell and her husband, Larry, of Bellefonte, Marcia Maurer and her partner, Lisa Maurer, of Oregon, and two grandchildren, Roxie and Coco.
During his retirement, Jan traveled the country with his wife in their RV. They especially enjoyed the winters in Palm Springs, CA., where they could hike and bike. They also traveled to various countries around the world. During his spare time he enjoyed working on and showing his classic car.
Friends will be received Thursday, April 16, 2015, from 12:30pm until 1:30pm at the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 250 East College Ave., State College, PA. A memorial service will follow at 1:30pm, at the church, with the Pastor Eric Shafer officiating.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
