Surrounded by her loving family, Sally Jane (Wolfe) Cook, 74, of Woodward, passed from this life on June 30, 2014 at her home. Born on October 12, 1939 in Bellefonte, Sally was a daughter of the late Elwood and Margaret (Frank) Wolfe.
Sally was a 1957 graduate of East Penns Valley High School. She went on to attain her Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Harrisburg Area Community College. She worked as a private duty nurse before becoming employed as a Psychiatric RN at the Harrisburg State Hospital, where she retired from with 35 years of service. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Millheim. Sally was best known by her friends and family as an avid reader. She used her Kindle so much the battery actually blew up. She also loved animals, especially her dogs, working in her flower gardens and collecting antiques and collectibles. The family fondly remembers how much Sally thoroughly enjoyed her last birthday gift in October of 2013, when they took her to the Rod Stewart concert at BJC and she was dancing in the isle.
Sally is survived by four daughters, Karen L. Cook of Manassas, VA, Robin L. (Cook) Johnson (Robert) of Mt. Holly Springs, Holly A. (Cook) Zucker of Harrisburg and Kelly D. (Cook) Green of Woodward and one sister, Barbara “Bubbles” Marroquin (Manuel) of Spring Mills. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Kyle, Mitchell, Kristen, Lee and Rachelle and five great grandchildren. Sally was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Wolfe.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on July 12 from 1-2 pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Millheim, followed by the memorial service at 2 pm with Pastor Julia Sprenkle officiating.
