Private First Class Jason Michael Harpster, U.S. Army, 19, of Damascus, died suddenly Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at his residence in Damascus, MD. Born July 6, 1990, at Shady Grove Hospital, Rockville, he was the son of Keith Allen and Kimberly Ann Stouffer Harpster.

He was a 2008 graduate of Damascus High School. Following graduation, Jason enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served the 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Bridgade, 1st Armor Division. He was recently assigned to Fort Bliss, Texas, after serving one year in South Korea.

Jason was an outdoor enthusiast; he enjoyed hunting, fishing and car racing.

Surviving in addition to his parents are sisters, Jennifer L. and Ashley M. Harpster, both, of Damascus; fiancee, Angelie Bayarcal; paternal grandparents, James A. and Theresa A. Harpster, of Colyer; maternal grandparents, Robert L. and Sandra K. Stouffer, of Derwood; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Jason was the nephew of John and JoAnn Lew, of State College.

Friends were receivedfrom 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus. The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at the funeral home. The Rev. Timothy L. Simpson of Greenridge Baptist Church, Clarksburg, officiated. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at 2 p.m.
