Jean L. Artz, 78, of Yarnell passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Hershey Medical Center. Born February 26, 1936 in Yarnell she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Koch Miller.
On January 30, 1955 she married Gerald “Jerry” Artz who preceded her in death on January 10, 2012. Jean was a retired nurse. She was a 1954 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. She also was a graduate of the Bellefonte Practical Nursing School.
She enjoyed gardening and canning. She was a member of the Yarnell United Methodist Church. She participated in the Child Evangelism Fellowship Program. She went on mission trips to Haiti and also to Venezuela.
Jean is survived by her son, Lewis Stanford Artz of Yarnell and her daughter, Donna Jean Artz (John) Chronister of Yarnell, her two brothers, Robert “Bob” (Lois “Skip”) Miller and her twin brother, Jack Miller, both of Yarnell. She also is survived by her two grandchildren, Marilynn Chronister of Milesburg and Carolynn (Tim) Stoicheff of State College and her five great grandchildren; Kiara McClusick, Justyn McClusick, Aaron “Jakey” McClusick, Derrick Stoicheff and Baby Boy Stoicheff. She is also survived by her dog, Runty. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Dawn Artz, her brother, Gerald Miller and her sister, Florence Miller Shawley.
Services will be held at the Yarnell United Methodist Church, 808 Yarnell Road., Bellefonte, Pa. on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Douglas W. Mellott officiating.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, April 6, 14 from 6PM until 8 PM at the Dean K Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring St., Milesburg, Pa. and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in the Advent Cemetery, Boggs Twp., Centre Co., Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Yarnell United Methodist Church, 1216 Runville Road., Bellefonte, Pa. 16823 and Child Evangelism Fellowship, 539 Jacksonville Road, Bellefonte, Pa. 16823. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg, Pa.
