Joanne Hacker, 75, died at Brookline Village on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, after a long illness of Alzheimer's.
She was born Jan. 4, 1935, in Columbia, the daughter of the late Martin and B. Elizabeth Good. Joanne graduated from East Donegal High School in 1953.
She is survived by her loving husband, Carl E. Hacker, of 57 years. Joanne and Carl have owned and operated Duffy's Boalsburg Tavern for 40 years, with great pride and dedication to the Boalsburg community. Joanne was full of passion for her family and also knew how important it was to give back to her community. She served as a member of the Junior Women's Club and Grace Lutheran Church, and completed many years of volunteerism. Joanne loved bowling for The Duffy's Diamonds, going out to eat, shopping and the movies.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Sirianni, Cindy Graham, Chuck and Kim Hacker; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of Centre County. Also surviving is her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Raymond and Rita Good, of Lancaster.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Her memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at the funeral home, with the Rev. P. Stevens Lynn of Grace Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Boalsburg Cemetery.
