John R. Faulkner, 90, of Bellefonte, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born in Falls Creek, on September 5, 1926, he was the son of the late Samuel and Ethel (Berty) Faulkner. He was married to Jean Reed, who precedes him in death.
He was a graduate of Reynoldsville High School in 1944. Upon high school graduation, John enlisted in Army Cops serving until October 1, 1946. He obtained the rank of Sergeant and was awarded Army of Occupation metal, two Victory Metals, and Good Conduct Metal.
Post military, John graduated from Penn State in 1950 with a B.S. Degree. He was employed with Titan Metal & Manufacturing/Cerro Corp from the mid 1950’s to 1975. He then went to work for Gettig Engineering & Manufacturing until his retirement in 1991.
He is survived by two sons, Dan Faulkner of Perkasie, PA and Michael Faulkner of Bellefonte. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Tatman.
John was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, BPOE 1094, VFW, Masonic Lodge of Reynoldsville, a 30-year member of Bellefonte Lions Club where he served as president in 1960. John was also a long time member of the Nittany Lion Club and served on the Board of Directors.
John’s life revolved around his family and their activities. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed time spent with his family and friends at camp in Pine Glen and the Ontario Cottage.
A memorial service will be held later at the convenience of the family.
