John H. Homan Jr., 73, of Spring Mills, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born February 21, 1943, in Alfarata, PA, he was a son of the late John H. Homan Sr. and Henrietta (Yeater) Homan-Bressler. On November 20, 1960, he married Lannie L. (Jodon) Homan who survives at home.

John was a supervisor at Gettig Technologies Inc. for 41 years. He also worked many odd jobs such as painting and roofing. After retirement, John worked for 11 years at the PA DCNR Penn Nursery. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, cutting fire wood, and woodworking. He was a hard working man who loved being outdoors and enjoyed spending time in Poe Valley at his family’s camp with his children. John loved to be with his family and his canine companion, Harter. John and Harter could often be seen enjoying car rides in John’s Suzuki.

In addition to his wife, Lannie, he is survived by four children; Shirley Bobb of Spring Mills, Sheila Homan of Spring Mills, Gabriel Homan (Holli) of Jeannette, PA, and Shawnee Kunes (Chris) of Spring Mills; two sisters, Brenda Hockenberry and Beverly Miller (Ken); two brothers, Bill Homan (Connie) and Brian Bressler (Char); one brother-in-law, Devon Neideigh; one son-in-law, Matthew Jantzer; five grandchildren, Shannon Bobb, Shaylie Maney (Theodore), Ayva Kunes, Nathanial Homan, and Abigail Homan; one great-grandson, Emmett; many nieces and nephews, and his canine companion, Harter.

Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his stepfather, Mahlon Bressler; stepbrother, Larry Bressler; and sister, Linda Neideigh.

Friends and family will be received from 1:00p.m. to 3:00p.m on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, PA. The funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00p.m. with Pastor Chris Korn officiating. There will be a meal held at Gregg Township Fire Hall at 4:00p.m.

Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
