John Richard “Jack” Semmer, 95, of State College, PA, a long-time former resident of Allentown, PA, passed away on June 22nd in his home at Foxdale Village in State College.
Jack was born in Wanamie, PA to the late Phillip and Mary Zeiser Semmer on November 2nd, 1922. He graduated from Newport Township high school in 1940 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following his service, he attended and graduated from Wilkes University with a degree in economics in 1950. He had a lengthy career as a purchasing agent with both Air Products & Chemicals, Inc. in Trexlertown, PA and Selas Corp in Dresher, PA. Jack was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He was an avid sports fan of all types, particularly Penn State football and wrestling.
Jack is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martina, of State College, son Jeffrey (Ann) of Villanova, PA, daughter Mary Dickson of State College, and son John F (Jill) of Berwyn, PA, and 6 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1208 Brookside Rd, Wescosville, PA on Saturday, June 30th at 11AM, with a calling hour beginning at 10AM.
