Joseph Nyman, 82, of Howard, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Centre Crest Nursing Home, Bellefonte.He was born on April 20, 1934 in Marsh Creek, the son of the late Joseph and Rena Eminhizer Nyman. He was united in marriage to Thorus ” Cork” Litz on October 9, 1954 in Lock Haven, she preceded him on December 14, 2008.
Joe retired from Warner Co. after over 25 years of service. His true passion was farming and he was involved with Dairy farming his entire life.After selling his herd, Friday hay sales were seldom missed where he would enjoy old friends and making new ones. He loved his family gatherings and the opportunity to spend time with them. Grange Fair was his family vacation. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting and was the local Forest Fire Warden.He was also a member of the Howard Area Lions Club.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Debra ( Willis) Reed, Sheila ( Alvin ) Yoder, and Stacy ( Mike Burns) Mann, all of Howard, and a son, Keith ( Edith ) Nyman also of Howard, 2 sisters, Fay Holt of Howard, and Melba ( Larry ) Strouse of Newville, 10 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren.He was preceded by a son-in-law, Bob Mann Jr., and a grandson, Willis Reed III.
Funeral services will be held on Monday March 13, 2017 at 10: 00 a.m. at the Kader- Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St., Howard, with Pastor Dan Longmore officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Burial will be at Schencks Cemetery, Howard.
