Joyce G. Patterson Housel, 63, of Port Matilda, died Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at her residence. She was born Feb. 13, 1948, in Philipsburg, a daughter of the later Abner Patterson and Vivian Kinzie Patterson Hanscom. On March 6, 1965, she married R. Ronald Housel, who preceded her in death Jan. 28, 2009. Joyce was a homemaker all of her life. She was also employed by the Nittany Lion Inn at Penn State University, State College Area School District , and most recently by Port Matilda Post Office. She was a member of the Philipsburg Abundant Life Fellowship Church. She was a devout Christian and a Prayer Warrior. She was extremely active teaching Sunday School, Youth Group, Pre School Children's Churchand Nursery. Joyce enjoyed attending her son's and grandchildren's sporting events, reading her Bible and attending church. She also enjoyed sewing, scrapbooking, canning and cooking. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Regina H. Knepp (Kendale) and Tenille D. Housel, both of Port Matilda; two sons, R. Garret Housel (Tamara) and Radley D. Housel (Alexandria), both of Port Matilda; a sister, Elaine Bond (Tony), of Victoria, Australia; a brother, Charles Patterson (Barb), of Warriors Mark; and five grandchildren, Katie, Colton, Shae, Riley and Talor Housel. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and her two beloved dogs, Skittles and Odie. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ronda Housel; a son, Curtis Housel; and a brother, Donald Patterson. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at the funeral home, with Pastor W. Dean Krause officiating. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery, Huston Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Abundant Life Fellowship, 102 Fairway Drive, Philipsburg, PA 16866. Arrangements are under the direction of Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg.
