Katherine J. Hoover, 93, of Snow Shoe, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Wellspring Memory Care at Brookline in State College. Born on August 22, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Charles Weaver McCloskey and Maude Rebecca Hauser McCloskey. On June 23, 1943, in Clarence, she married Donald Victor Hoover. Donald passed away on November 20, 2012.
Katherine graduated from the Snow Shoe High School. She was a homemaker having worked previously at the Snow Shoe Hosiery Mill and Piper Aircraft of Quehanna. Katherine attended the Clarence United Methodist Church.
Katherine was a loving and nurturing woman, always ready to help others in any way she could. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, berry picking, quilting, crocheting, bingo, and gardening. She loved yard sales and had a green thumb for growing cuttings of any plant on her window sill. She also helped her husband operate his chain saw repair shop, as well as, helping to load and deliver firewood.
Katherine is survived by her six children; Donna L. Cramer (Jim), Brenda G. Almeida (Ray), Rodney C. Hoover (Wanda), and Lynda C. Cramer (Terry) all of Snow Shoe, Keith L. Hoover of Lewisburg, and Lane S. Hoover (Kathy) of Kansas City, MO., 19 grandchildren; Douglas J. Cramer (Maria), Darren J. Cramer (Stephanie), Ryan D. Cramer (Jacque), Tricia L. Fox (Gary), Corey D. Sipes (Karla), Brenton C. Rockey (Brandie), Seth A. Fye (Judy), Adam C. Hoover (Sarah), Clay A. Hoover (Rachelle), Kylene N. Walk (Tom), Trevor L. Cramer, Warren G. Hoover, (Regina), Alison R. Heilig (Chris), Sarah K. Warner (Josiah), Elizabeth M. Hoover, Kerri L. Kodjovi (Komi), Brittany R. Hoover (Amanda), Tyson V. Hoover, and Cody L. Hoover.
Also surviving are her 33 great grandchildren; Devon Houdeshell, Skylar Cramer, Tanner Cramer, Amber Aubrey, Cody Sipes, Jake Sipes, Skyler Rockey (Victoria), Sierra Castro (Robert), Dakota Rockey, Meagan Rockey, Logan Rockey, Eliana Fye, Evengeline Fye, Emma Hoover, Ethan Hoover, Aiden Hoover, Cameron Hoover, Vanessa Walk, Kierra Walk, Cadence Hoover, Caleb Hoover, Khloe Warner, Kaylee Warner, Zachary Kodjovi, Rebecca Kodjovi, Jean Paul Kodjovi, Jeremiah Hoover, Elisha Hoover, Ariyah Hoover, Shay Cramer, Levi Cramer, Mason Cramer, and Fulton Fox, and four great-great grandchildren; Julian Martin, Drake Sipes, Rylee Sipes, and Emma Castro.
Along with her parents and husband, Katherine was preceded in death by two brothers; Robert M. McCloskey and Jesse E. McCloskey. Katherine was the last of her generation.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11am at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Snow Shoe. Burial will follow at the Church of Christ Cemetery in Snow Shoe.
