Lawrence O. Rider, 82, of Howard died Monday, August 17, 2015 at HCR ManorCare, Jersey Shore, PA.

Born August 4, 1933 in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Calvin and Beatrice (Witmer) Rider. On March 10, 1956, he married the love of his life Anna M. Williams who survives at home. They were married for 59 wonderful years.

He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, in Hublersburg, and served our country in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean Conflict.
Lawrence and Anna owned and operated their own Insurance Company, Rider Insurance, for 47 years. He loved spending time surrounded by his loving family.

He enjoyed hunting and working on his family farm. He was a member of the following organizations; American Legion (Past Commander) Post 867, Bellefonte VFW Post 1600, Bellefonte Elks, Bellefonte Tall Cedars, Bellefonte Masonic Lodge, Altoona Jaffa Shrine, and Centre County Shrine Club.

Along with his wife Anna, he is survived one daughter, Vickie (Mark) Tenney of Howard; one brother, Glenn Rider; three grandchildren, Kristen, Samantha, and Kevin; four great-grandchildren, Kadan, Alyssa, Chase, and Ryleigh.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Loye, Dair, Harrison, Vaughn, and Kermit; four sisters, Veronica, Ernestine, Esperance, and Joycelene; one loving foster daughter, Marcella Ann and her daughter Robin Danielle Olah.

Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p. m Friday, August 21, 2015 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. The funeral will follow immediately at 1:00 p. m. with the Reverend Paul Mortimore officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park with military honors.
