Lee F. Russell Jr., 67 of Beech Creek, passed away unexpectantly Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Lock Haven Hospital. He was born on November 8, 1947 in Lock Haven, a son of the late Lee F. Russell and Marie Barner Russell Knarr of Castanea.
On January 17, 1968, he married the love of his life, Doris Gail Weaver Russell who preceded him in death on January 11, 2015.
Lee had worked at Piper Aircraft, Hammermill Paper and retired from Cerro Metal after many years of service. He had also worked for Weaver Electric.
Lee was a proud veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sargeant.
He was member of the Blanchard Church of Christ, the Beech Creek American Legion, life-member Beech Creek/Blanchard Fire Co. where he served as a former Chief and EMT. He also belonged to the Liberty Twp. Sportsman Club. He enjoyed hunting arrowheads, fishing, hunting, and was a avid Penn State and Pittsburgh Steeler Fan.
Along with his mother, he is survived by a daughter; Wendi K. (Craig) Showers of Wingate, a son; Shannon L. Russell of Beech Creek, a brother; Ed Russell of Lock Haven, two sisters; Gail Lucas of Milesburg, and Sherri (Arn) Best of Loganton, a grandson; Brett Hanley, two step-grandsons; Chris and Luke Showers, and four great-grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received at the Blanchard Church of Christ 161 Beach St., Blanchard, Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 5 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be following the visitation at the church at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 with the Rev. Dr. Russell J. Moldovan officiating. Military rites will be accorded. Burial wil be at the Schencks Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be a Fire Co. memorial tribute service just prior to the funeral service.
