Lester E. Lenker, 89, of Bellefonte, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015, at Centre Crest Nursing Home. A son of the late Emerson and Matilda (Kerr) Lenker, he was born on March 22, 1925, in Milton, PA. He is survived by his wife, Lois Stover Boob Lenker.
Lester was a 1946 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School and had worked at West Penn Power, retiring after 37 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. For his service he received the Good Conduct Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal w/4 Bronze Stars and the Victory Medal. He attended the Calvary Bible Church in Centre Hall. He was very active and supportive of the Centre County Christian Academy. He was a member of the Bellefonte Bowling League.
Along with his wife Lois, he is survived by one sister Mary Elizabeth Lenker Moss of Bellefonte, three step children; Carol Hill of Flemington, Larry Boone of Bellefonte, David Boone of Cincinnati, OH; eight step grandchildren, eight step great-grandchildren, one step great- great grandchild, two nieces, Cheryl Sharpe of Bellefonte and Mary Drudge of Indiana, PA, along with other numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death in 2003 by his first wife of 50 years, Alzene (Shuey) Lenker, an infant son and an infant daughter, two sisters; Helen Boldin, Pauline Henry; and two brothers, Robert Lenker and Rev. Russell Lenker.
A public visitation will be held on Friday February 20, 2015, from 10 a.m. till 12 p.m., with the funeral service to follow visitation at 12 p.m., at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte. Burial will follow in Meyer Cemetery, Benner Township, with full military honors.
