Louise E. Casher, 95, of Snow Shoe, passed away on Sunday, June 09, 2013 at Centre Crest Nursing Home. Born on August 28, 1917, in Curwensville, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Mary B. Taylor Wenrick. On February 12, 1938, in Clarence, she married Cameron A. Casher, who passed away in October 16,1970.
Louise was a 1934 graduate from Snow Shoe High School. She was a life member of the Snow Shoe United Methodist Church. She was employed as a clerk at Hall’s Market in Snow Shoe until retiring in 1986. She also worked at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte and the Ames Department Store in State College. She was also a care giver to many people in the Mountaintop Area.
Louise always had an open door to those in need. She would give people a place to stay and a meal; whatever she could to help people. She and her husband took in hunters during hunting season for many years.
Louise is survived by her son, Gary A. Casher and his wife, Takako of Killeen, TX, her daughter, Linda L. Schall and her husband, George of Snow Shoe, and her daughter in law, Jean E. Casher of Snow Shoe. Also surviving are her six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Louise was preceded in death by her son, Cameron W. “Bill” Casher, five brothers; William, Irvin, Warren, Lytle, and Harold, and on sister, Sarah. Louise was the last of her generation.
Memorial service will be on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 11am at the Snow Shoe United Methodist Church with Pastor Catherine W. Dittman officiating. Interment will follow at Askey Cemetery, Snow Shoe Twp.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to the Snow Shoe United Methodist Church, 512 Moshannon Ave, Snow Shoe, PA 16874.
