Lynn Burton Tingue, died on March 4, 2017 at Juniper Village in State College, PA. He was born on March 10, 1928 in Unionville, PA. He was the son of Burton R. and Evelyn Tingue. He graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1946 where he was standout basketball player. Immediately following graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and sailed to various places around the world. He ended his Naval career in Panama as a Communication Specialist. Upon his return to the States, he enrolled at Penn State and graduated in 1952 with a B.S. in Physical Education. Upon graduation, he was employed at HRB Singer as an Assistant Purchase Agent. Several years later, he accepted a position at Penn State in the Purchasing department and eventually became the Assistant Purchasing Agent in charge of Technical Buying. He retired from Penn State in 1987.
On June 15, 1952, he married Patricia Robinson, who survives him along with his children: Michael Robert, Lisa Mary and Daniel Burton. Also surviving is his sister, Mary Peck.
Burt’s greatest love was his family and spending quality time with them. He also loved basketball, tennis and golf and was a member of the Burning Tee Golf League for many years. He also enjoyed antiquing and refinishing furniture for his and his children’s homes. Burt had a friendly outgoing personality and a great sense of humor which he shared with his family and many friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 10:00 am, at the University Baptist and Brethren located at 411 South Burrows Street, State College, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the State College Food Bank at 321 S. Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801.
