Obituary of Melvin E. McCombs, 76

Melvin E. McCombs, 76, of Howard, passed away on Sunday February 25, 2018 at Haven Skilled Rehabilitation, Lock Haven.

He was born on April 14, 1941. in Indiana County a son of the late Orley and Ruth Shultz McCombs. He was a graduate of Purchase Line High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict.Years later he would continue his service by serving as Post Commander at the Beech Creek American Legion.

He worked for various companies in the area including Piper, American Chemical and Dye, and Champion Parts.

He was united in marriage to Cheryl Mayes McCombs on June 11, 1966.She survives at their home.

Melvin was of Protestant faith. He enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.

Along with his wife he is survived by two sons, Brian ( Vanessa) of Japan, and Michael ( Joni ) McCombs of Blanchard, a sister, Delores ( Gerald ) Miller of Mill Hall, two brothers, Richard ( Frances ), of Indiana, and Randy ( Chris) of Punxsatawney, and his two grandchildrten Dakota and Sierra.

He was preceded by three brothers, Larry, Tom, and Gilbert McCombs.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 28, 2018 at 1: 00 p.m. with Rev. Alan S. Eckenroad officiating. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. until the services on Wednesday.

Burial will be at Hays- Fearon Cemetery, Beech Creek at the families convenience.
