Mr. Michael P. Merrow, 64, of State College, died Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at his residence.
He was born July 3, 1951, at Philipsburg, a son of Grace E. Merrow of Morrisdale, and the late Craig John Merrow.
On August 9, 2003, in Wyalusing, he married Annette Dibble Merrow who survives at home.
Michael graduated from West Branch High School and attended Penn State University and the University of Maryland.
Mr. Merrow began his working career at Hyde Target Sportswear, then served 5 years in the military as a helicopter crew chief during the Viet Nam War. He also served with peace keeping forces in Korea. A significant portion of his working life was with Spectra Woods in State College.
A member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Pleasant Gap. Among the things he enjoyed most were fishing, hunting, photography, woodworking, gardening, NACAR racing, and especially going on cruises.
In addition to his wife and mother, Michael is survived by his step daughter, Elizabeth Dreibelbis (Jason) of Zion; two sisters, Cheryl Nicholson of Morrisdale and Ellen Meissner (Bruce) of Manchester MD; two brothers Richard Merrow and Steven Merrow (Georgenne) all of Morrisdale; and three grandchildren, Jason, Madison, and Payton.
A memorial service will be held on at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, September 12, 2015, at New Hope United Methodist Church, 1089 E. College Ave, Bellefonte, PA, with the Reverend Robert Dornan officiating. Attendees are encouraged to dress casually as there will be picnic on the church grounds where friends will be received immediately following the memorial service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
