Mildred L. Witmer, 90, died on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Kinkora Pythian Home in Duncannon.
Born on December 1, 1921 in Monroe Township, Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur T. and Bessie M. (Zeigler) Starry.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Creedon L. Witmer; grandson, Randall J. Hull; great-granddaughter, Amanada L. Leonard; and her youngest sister, Joyce Gettys.
She is survived by her son, Ronold O. (Shirley) Witmer of Duncannon; daughter, Bonnie Jo (Cloyd) Hull of Marysville; granddaughter, Roxanne Witmer (Dennis) Chestnut of East Berlin; grandsons, Rodney L. (Darla) Witmer of Mechanicsburg, and Rikardo J. Hull of Harrisburg, as well as step-grandchildren, Kathryn Hull (Leandro) Fletes and Cloyd M. III (Michelle) Hull, both of Medford, OR; Andrea Chestnut (Jess) Dowell and Christopher (Amanda Wolf) Chestnut, both of East Berlin; thirteen step great-grandchildren; eight step great-great-grandchildren; brother Robert Z. Starry of Carlisle; sister, Ruth N. (Lloyd) Markle of Carlisle; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Mildred graduated from Mechanicsburg High School, class of 1939. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Miller's Oldsmobile of Mechanicsburg, the Mechanicsburg Cemetery Association, and retired as Office Manager from Steel Building Erectors of Carlisle. She was a member of the Church of God (Monroe Township) and served as church organist for over fifty years. She was currently a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, New Kingstown.
Family will receive friends Sunday, March 25, 2012, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 4 Main Street, New Kingstown, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Timothy W. Weitkamp (New Kingstown) and Pastor Kurt V. Herzberg (Dellville UMC) officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Kingstown Fire Company, 277 N. Locust Point Road, New Kingstown, PA 17072-0247.
