Myron L. “Windy” Bowersox, 86, of Pleasant Gap died Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Born April 29, 1932, in Woodward, he was the son of the late Homer R. and Mary A. (Guisewite) Bowersox. On August 15, 1959, in Woodward, he married Esther L. Yeager, of Philadelphia, who preceded him in death on June 25, 2015.

He was a 1950 graduate of the East Penns Valley High School in Millheim.

For 41 ½ years, he was a member of the 112th Air Control Squadron, Pennsylvania Air National Guard at State College. He was employed full time with the unit for 37 years, retiring as Personnel Superintendent in December 1991. His service in the unit included two active duty mobilizations; in 1951 for the Korean War; and again in 1961 for the Berlin Wall Crisis, where the unit was stationed on a German Air Base. His many awards include the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal and the Pennsylvania Meritorious Service Medal.

From November 1994 to November 2000, he worked as a bank courier for Brinks, Inc., servicing the Omega Bank system.

He was a protestant. He was a life member of the Air Force Sergeants Assn; the American Legion; and the Pleasant Gap Fire Co. He was also a member of the Retired Enlisted Assn. and the National Rifle Assn.

He is survived by two sons; Ralph L. (Janis) of Irwin, PA; Alan L. (Beth) of Spring Hill, TN; four grandchildren; Glenn (Yasmin), Dana, Brendon (Andrea Theobold), and Zachary, as well as two great-grandchildren. A brother, Nevin, and sisters Tillie and Betty, all preceded him in death.

Services will be private for the family, followed by interment in the Garden Mausoleum at Centre County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Centre Home Care (Hospice), 2437 Commercial Blvd., State College, PA 16801, or the Veterans Assistance Fund, P.O. Box 546, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
