Nadine W. Ross, 82, of Pleasant Gap, formerly of Brush Valley, departed from this life on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. Nadine, daughter of the late James and Britamarte Fortney Wasson, was born on August 28, 1927 in Pine Grove Mills. On August 30, 1947, she married Dean F. Ross, who preceded her in death. In recent years she has shared her life with Charlie "Red" DeArmitt, who survives at home.
Nadine was a graduate of Gregg Township Vocational School. She worked in the customer service field, retiring from Penn State University in 1989. She was an active member of Christ United Church of Christ in Madisonburg. Nadine enjoyed playing cards and bingo with family and friends and also traveling.
In addition to Charlie, Nadine is survived by two daughters, Patty (Brent) Jones and grandsons, Ross and Barry, of Mill Hall; Mary Jane (Pete) Lee and grandchildren, Justin, Eric and Kelliann, of Poolesville, Md.; by one son, Allen Ross (Heidi Harr) of, Jenkintown and his children Erin, David and Sarah and Heidi's daughter, Ali. Also surviving are two sisters, Janet (John) Devinney, of Spring Mills and Phyllis (Gerry) Evey, of Sterling Heights, Mich.; one brother, Paul (Catherine) Wasson, of Madisonburg; two sisters-in-law, Jeanne Wasson, of Centre Hall and Betty Wasson, of Bellefonte; and one brother in law, Donald Ross, of State College. Family members surviving on Charlie's side of the family include, Judy (Darryl) Furfaro, Mike (Sandy) DeArmitt, Jeff DeArmitt, and Laurie (Dave) Wetzel and nine grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Nadine was preceded in death by brothers, Ivan and Richard Wasson and one sister, Joyce McCool and her husband Bob McCool.
Family and friends will be received at Christ United Church of Christ in Madisonburg on Sunday, March 7, 2010, from 2-4 p.m. Funeral services will follow immediately at 4 p.m. with Pastor Narda Druckenmiller officiating. Memorial contributions in Nadine's memory may be given to Christ United Church of Christ, PO Box 124, Madisonburg, PA 16852. Burial will be in the Centre County Memorial Park and will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by The Steven R. Neff Funeral Home of Millheim.
