Nickel L. Bierly, 54, of Bellefonte, passed away at home on Sunday, April 1, 2018. Born on December 28, 1963, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of Jack E. Witmer, who is surviving her, and Peggy E. Witmer, who preceded her in death. She was married to her beloved husband David S. Bierly, who survives at home.
Nickel was a 1981 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. She worked for the State College School District.
In addition to her father and husband, she is survived by one daughter, Anna M. Grove (Ronnie M. Inhoof) of Pleasant Gap. Also surviving are three sisters, Penny L. Grove, Shelley L. Witmer, and Sally L. Beck (Steve), all of Bellefonte.
Along with her mother, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mara L. Grove on May 20, 1989.
Nickel enjoyed cooking, watching Food Network, going camping, and playing cards with family. She especially loved her dogs, Maggie and Zoey; they were her life!
The Children’s Miracle Network was very near and dear to Nickel. Her daughter, Anna Marie was a miracle child for CMN. Over the years, they have worked to earn thousands of dollars for the CMN.
A public viewing will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 2-4pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. at 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will immediately follow at the funeral home at 4pm with Rev. Calvin Miller officiating. Burial will follow services at Meyer Cemetery in Bellefonte.
