Oscar D. Dunkle, 92, formerly of Mingoville, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Green Ridge Village in Newville, PA. Born on November 26, 1922, in Mingoville, he was the son of the late John T. and Mary Weaver Dunkle. On September 22, 1945, in Zion, he married Lois M. Shaffer who passed away.
Oscar was a 1941 graduate of Walker Twp. School. He was of the protestant faith. He was a past member of the Zion United Church of Christ. He was a volunteer at the Walker Twp. Fire Co. for many years.
He was employed at Corning Glass Works in State College as a Spinner Operator, retiring in 1987 after 20 years of service. Before Corning, Oscar worked on the family farm in Zion from 1941 until 1967.
Oscar is survived by his children; Joan D. Smith and her husband, Glenn, of Carlisle, Thomas A. Dunkle and his wife, Maria, of Marietta , GA, and Larry E. Dunkle of Pittsfield, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife, Oscar was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 11-12 noon at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc, 135 Main St. Howard. Funeral services will be 12 noon on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the funeral home with Pastor Alan Eckenroad officiating. Burial will follow at Hublersburg Cemetery.
