Otto Daniel Ebeling, 95, of Bellefonte, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg. Born on November 19, 1919 in Josephine, PA, he was the son of the late Ernest and Nora (Kelley) Ebeling. On November 26, 1939 in Bellefonte, he married Winifed E. (Evey-Lose) Ebeling who preceded him in death in 2003.
Otto attended St. John’s Catholic School and Bellefonte High School. He worked in the shipping department at Cerro Copper and Brass until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte, former member of the Knights of Columbus and Veteran of Foreign Wars # 1600. Otto was a veteran who served in the United States Navy WWII. For his services he received the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal and Philippine Liberation Ribbon.
Otto is survived by three daughters; Barbara J. Gillespie of Buffalo Run, Gail L. Anderson of State College, Candace K. Cogan of Houston, TX, by four sons; William O. Ebeling of Zion, Daniel P. Ebeling of Sugartree, TN, Thomas G. Ebeling of Bellefonte and Timothy Ebeling of Julian. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 12 great, great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters and one grandson.
There will be a public visitation held on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 9:00 am at St. John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte with Father George Jakopac officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Bellefonte.
