Paul Barton, 82, of Bellefonte, passed away at home on Friday, July 13, 2018. Born in Heckscherville, PA., on July 9, 1936, he was the son of the late Metro and Mary (Chapolsky) Bardon. On January 26, 1957, in Minersville, PA., he married the love of his life, Rosemarie M. (Ferenchick) Barton, who survives his at home after sharing 61 years of marriage together.
Paul received his Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University in 1963. He did consulting for several different companies. Paul continued to work at Penn State as an assistant professor in the chemical engineering department from 1968 until his retirement from the university in 1994.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Marion Sabella of Bellefonte, Julia Barton of Bellefonte, Charles Barton of Bellefonte, Roseann Bomboy of Potters Mills, and Peter Barton (Michelle) of Jacksonville, NC.; seven grandchildren, Cody Barton, Trevor Barton, Kristy Croyle, Donald Eden, Keagen Barton, Austin Bomboy and Leo Bomboy; and one great-grandchild. Also surviving is one brother, Michael Barton (Rose) of Minersville.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Marie, and five brothers, Raymond, Walter, Bobbie, Billy, and David.
Paul was an avid Penn State football fan and traveled to all the games. He especially enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. Paul treasured the memories that were made when he would often take his grandchildren fishing.
There will be a public viewing held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 10am-12pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. at 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12pm at the funeral home with Father George Jakopac officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
