Philip Hunter Williams, 65, of State College, died Sunday, June 20, 2010, at his residence.
Born Feb. 25, 1945, in Bellefonte, the son of the late Philip Wagner and Helen Hunter Williams. Phil was a 1963 graduate of State College Area High School and received his Bachelor degree in 1967 and his Masters degree in 1970 in Horticulture both from Penn State University.
On May 10, 1969 he was married to the former Jan DeBoer, who survives in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was employed by College Gardens and previously had worked for Dow Chemical Co. as a sales representative. Phil played basketball and baseball for State College Area High School. He played baseball for Penn State and was the handball champion at Penn State in his junior year. Phil was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He enjoyed playing tennis.
He is survived by two children, Tracye Williams Hirasawa and her husband, Scott, of Lake Forest Park, Wash. and Ben Williams, of Driggs, Idaho.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College with a Memorial Service following at 10 a.m. with Rev. Brent Book officiating.
