Richard Morgan Madore was taken to be with his Lord and Savior unexpectedly on Monday morning, Jan. 18, 2010.

Rick or Rick-a-roo, as he liked to be called by friends and patients alike, was born on March 7, 1958, the son of Martha Jane (Janie) Patton and Richard (Dick) Morgan in the Centre County Hospital in Bellefonte. He was predeceased in Dec., 1957 by his father, a student at the University of Pittsburgh Dental School, by his mother in 1998; and by his fraternal grandparents, Dr. Charles Morgan and Sally Morgan Blaney and maternal grandparents, Gilbert and Gertrude Patton.

In 1962, Janie married Jack Madore who adopted Rick as his son. He is survived by his best friend Patty, his wife of twenty-six years; daughters, Mckenzie and Madison; and son, Andy. Also surviving are brother, Rob and wife, Lisa and family, of Pittsburgh; sister, Mindy and husband, Chris Davis and family, of Media; and father, Jack and wife, Janet, of State College.

Rick was a down to earth man with a jovial sense of humor who deeply loved and was steadfastly loyal to his God, his family, friends 'and community. He was passionately involved in State College swimming, the Saint Francis Red Flash, Boy Scout Troop 31 and Penn State football to name but a few. He was in the class of 1976 at State High; graduated with an undergraduate degree from Juniata College; and received his dental degree from Temple University. He began his practice of dentistry in State College in Feb., 1986.

Rick was an affectionate, fun-loving person who openly and unashamedly showed his love for people. Patients were often known to remark about the congenial atmosphere of the office created by the staff and his pleasant and friendly chair-side manner. He served the community as a volunteer dentist for Centre Volunteers in Medicine and as a State College Area School board member. Rick and his family enjoyed their summer vacations at the Sunshine House on Fairview Lake in the Pocono Mountains. These times were filled with boating, fishing, swimming, water skiing, playing on the water trampoline, roaring camp fires, suppers off the grill and much laughter.

Family and friends will be received at Koch Funeral Home in State College on Thursday, Jan. 21, from 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Funeral Services are Friday, Jan. 22 , at 10 a.m., at St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Centre Volunteers in Medicine, 2520 Green Tech Drive, Suite D, State College, PA 16803.
