Robert Vaughn Ainsworth, 78, died Tuesday morning at home with his family at his side after fighting a long brave battle with melanoma.
Robert was born January 5, 1938 in Altoona. He was the son of Ruth (Cunningham) and Reynolds Ainsworth. He married Joan Bradley March 21, 1959.
Robert is survived by his wife Joan, daughter Robin of Charleston, SC, sons Doug (Kris) Ainsworth and David Ainsworth of Altoona. Sisters Barbara Wood of Altoona and Debbie Potter of Washington D.C. He is also survived by Grandchildren Shawn and Adam Graves of Greenwood,SC, Brittany Billetdeaux and Kyle Ainsworth of Altoona. Greatgrandchildren Brody and Sara Graves of Greenwood, SC and Colbie, R.J., and Kinley Billetdeaux, and several nieces and nephews.
Robert was a 1955 graduate of Altoona High School and a former member of the US Air Force.
He was retired from SKF.
Robert loved nature and was at home in the mountains, in the woods or on the water. He was a member of the Bellwood Beagle Club and the Chief Logan Rifle Range and Lodge, and bowled in various Altoona leagues over the years.
As per Roberts wishes there will be no viewing or services. Internment will be made at Blair Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
