Robert Clair Weber, 79, of Potters Mills, died Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the Hearthside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in State College.

He was born June 26, 1933, in Snyder Township, a son of the late Charles and Pearl Harter Weber. Robert lived in Snydertown until he was 15.

He then moved to Centre Hall, starting his long and varied working career working on the Lynn and Penny Blazer Farm for six years. Following his time on the farm, he worked for W. D. Henninger at the Old Penn State Diner in State College. Mr. Weber was employed as a baker at Penn State University from 1962 until his retirement in 1991. In 1974 he purchased and operated a soft ice cream truck; and later also owned and operated sugar waffle and french fry concession stands at Grange Fair and other events for many years. He sold his trailers in 1994, but still worked carnivals and fairs for a friend Beverly Bartlebaugh making funnel cakes.

Robert enjoyed going to rodeos with his friend Jake Brown; spending time with Jake’s family and other friends; going horseback riding and caring for his horses; and camping at Grange Fair for thirty or more years.

His memberships included Centre Hall and Gregg Township Fire Companies and the State Showman’s Association.

Surviving is one nephew Russ Weber of Intercession City, Florida, and one niece Debbie Smith of Bellefonte, plus numerous friends and associates.

He was the last survivor in his generation having been preceded in death by his mother on Feb. 24, 1966, his father on October 2, 1983; and his brother Willard Weber on March 22, 2010.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a. m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service P. C., 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall; the funeral will follow immediately at 11:00 a. m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Rob Tevis and the Rev. Rick Wilson officiating. Burial will be at the Zion Cemetery, Zion, PA.
