Rodney E. Walker, 87, of 220 West College Avenue, Pleasant Gap, PA, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center at State College.

He was born March 18, 1925, at Yarnell, Boggs Township, Pa., a son of the late Taylor Wilson and Vivian Brown Walker. He married Fay Marshall on June 9, 1949, in The Bellefonte Christian and Missionary Alliance Church with the late Rev. John Jones and the late Rev. Franklin Greenley, uncle of the bride, performing the ceremony.

Rodney is survived by his wife, Fay, and one son, Rodney Everett Walker II and his wife Judy of Pleasant Gap, Pa., two brothers, Guy Cameron and wife Miriam, of Burt, NY, Kenneth L. and wife Arletta, of Milesburg, and one sister Maxine Richner and husband Doyle of Beech Creek.

Rodney attended the Yarnell schools.

Rodney retired from The Pennsylvania State University, Dairy Science Department, in 1985, having worked for 35 years. For many years he was self-employed in the pulpwood business. He also operated Rod's Sales and Service, selling chainsaws and repairing small gas engines. He also served a four term as Trustee for Teamsters Local 8.

He was a member of The Bellefonte Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. He served as Head Usher, Head Elder, Governing Board Member, and Trustee. Rodney enjoyed playing the guitar and at one time had a small band with a group of friends. He loved country music and Gospel. Rodney enjoyed going to the hunting camp and hunting deer. He bought one bear license and was successful in shooting a black bear, which he had mounted.

Friends will be received at The Living Hope Alliance Church, 321 East Howard Street, Bellefonte, Pa. from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 18, 2012; and from 1:00 p. m. until the service at 2:00 P. M. Friday Oct. 19, 2012 at the church. Committal service will follow at Meyers Cemetery, Buffalo Run. Pastor John Pavlica will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Living Hope Alliance Church Building Fund, 321 E. Howard St., Bellefonte, PA 16823.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall.
